Day 01: Arrival in Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu(1300m)

After your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, one of your company’s representative will be welcoming you at the airport. Then, you will be transferred to your respective hotels in a private vehicle. After the check-in, you can take rest at the hotel. In the afternoon, you can roam around the bright streets in Thamel.

Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Drive to Syabrubesi (1450 m), 7-8 hrs drive.

Today, after having our breakfast, we will take a bus ride to Syabrubesi which is the trailhead of this Langtang trek. The drive takes us around 7 to 8 hours to reach Syabrubesi. We will drive along the Trishuli riverbank with beautiful views of the scenic meadows, valleys, rivers, and mountains. You can have breathtaking views of the mountains, including the Ganesh Himal, Mt. Annapurna II, Manasalu, and others during the drive.

We will pass through Trishuli Bazaar, Betrawati, and Dhunche to finally reach Syabrubesi.

Overnight in Syabrubesi.

Day 03: Syaprubeshi to Lama Hotel (2480 m), 6-7 hrs of trek.

Today is the first day of our trek. After breakfast, we start our hike toward the Lama Hotel. Firstly, we will cross the Bhote Koshi River via a suspension bridge and follow the stone-paved trail. Then we will ascend up to the village of Bamboo. The trail takes us through the tropical forest covered in oak, maple, spruce, fir, blue pine, and rhododendron. From Bamboo, the trail continues to gradually ascend to Rimche (2400m) and then to Lama Hotel.

Day 04: Lama Hotel to Mundu (3543 m) via Langtang village, 6-7 hrs of trek.

After early morning breakfast, we continue our hike towards Mundu. The trail continues to ascend from Lama Hotel. We can enjoy the mountain landscape with ample waterfalls. The trail levels up as we reach Ghoda Tabela and we can see the white peaks of the Langtang range. The trail continues to climb up as the valley widens and passes through incredible landscapes, lush jungles, and astonishing sceneries and some temporary settlements. We then come across a Buddhist monastery before reaching the Langtang Village which was severely affected by the earthquake back in April 2015.

From there, we continue to climb up a ridge covered by a large chorten and walk past the Mani walls to finally reach the village of Mundu.

Day 05: Mundu to Kyanjin Gompa (3870 m), 3-4 hrs of trek.

Today, we will start our hike to Kyangjin Gompa, a principal monastery of the region. The trail takes us through water mills, prayer wheels, chortens, with sacred mounds of rocks with inscriptions carved on them. We can witness the largest mani wall in Nepal in the trail. Mani walls are made of stone with prayers carved on it. After the short trek, we finally reach Kyanjin Gompa. After reaching there, you can enjoy the rest of the afternoon exploring the Buddhist shrine in Kyangjin Gompa and its surrounding.

Day 06: Kyanjin Gompa to Tsergo Ri (4985 m) to Kyanjin Gompa, 6-7 hrs of trek.

Today we start very early in the morning. After having our breakfast, we will begin our walk toward Tsergo Ri, one of the famous viewpoints in the Langtang region. The trails pass through the yak pasture before ascending toward Tsergo Ri. We will also trek to the Langtang glacier and the Langshisha Kharka, which is a beautiful yak pasture. We will get back to Kyangjin Gompa by late afternoon and explore the beautiful monastery while enjoying views of the Himalayas.

Day 07: Trek down to Lama Hotel from Kyanjin Gompa, 6-7 Hrs of trek.

Today, we begin to head back to Lama Hotel retracing the trail. the trek today is quite easy as most of the trails are downhill. We will walk through lush forests and beautiful Tamang villages. We will walk past Mundu, Langtang village, and Ghora Tabela to finally reach our destination at Lama Hotel.

Day 08: Lama Hotel to Syabrubesi, 4-5 hrs of trek. 

After breakfast, we trek back through the same trail passing through the bamboo and rhododendron forests to arrive at Syabrubesi. The trail today is mostly downhill so, it is a pretty easy day today.

Day 09: Drive to Kathmandu, 7-8 hrs drive.

Today we will drive back to Kathmandu from Syabrubesi. Enjoying the scenic views and bumpy ride, we will reach Kathmandu. We will drop you at your hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 10: Kathmandu Sightseeing & Farewell Dinner

After the wonderful trek, we will have a complete sightseeing day in Kathmandu. After having breakfast, you will be taken to a guided sightseeing tour around the Kathmandu Valley. You will be going around the popular touristic destinations in Kathmandu. Some of them are Pashupatinath, Bouddhanath, Swoyambhunath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Patan Durban Square, and several others.

After the sightseeing, we will have our farewell dinner at a  traditional Nepali Restaurant to celebrate the successful trek.

Day 11: Transfer to the airport for your departure.

My Everest Base Camp Trek Experience

Day 1: Fly to Lukla from Kathmandu and trek to Phakding 

Firstly, we took 25 minutes mountain flight to Tenzing-Hillary Airport at Lukla. We paused at Mira Lodge for our breakfast and walked towards Phakding. We passed a suspension bridge, various chorten, Mani stones, and vibrant prayer flags. Along with this, we sighted lovely peaks like Karyolung (6511 m), Nupla (5885 m), and Gongla (5813 m). After walking for a couple of hours, we paused to have tea refreshment at Thado Koshi. We saw Mt. Kusum Kangaru (6367 m) standing behind the Koshi River. We resume walking towards Phakding for one more hours. After reaching, we had our lunch and stayed overnight in Shangri-la Lodge. In the late afternoon, we went to explore the Pema Choling Gompa in Phakding. It is the oldest monastery in the region carrying 350 years of history.

Some Facts:
  • Almost of the houses in Phakding are painted with white clay. There used to be a source of white micaceous clay in Phakding in the past. Hence, the villagers named name Phakding after it.
  • Also, the other name of Pema Choling Gompa is Rimishung Gumba. It is the oldest and essential Gumba in Khumbu region.

Day 2: Trek to Namche bazaar

This day presented us with semi moderate trails. We had at least two and a half hours of difficult time climbing up to Namche Bazaar. Besides, we crossed four suspension bridges passing through crystal clear Dudh Koshi River. The trail took us to narrows with stone laid paths where we paused to run TIMS permit check. We had tea refreshment. Afterward, we continue our steps further passing many chortens, and mane stones viewing greenhouses. We sighted a few mountains like Mt. Kongde (6168 m), Kusum Kangaru (6367 m), and Mt. Thamserku (6608 m). We then reached Monjo, a last village before the Sagarmatha National Park. There, we showed our National park permit and walked away. Stepping on a few uphill and downhill trails, we finally reached Jorsalle for our lunch break.

After our energetic lunch, we regained our energy to walk for more two and a half hours. We crossed the Hillary Bridge. On the way to Namche Bazaar, we started viewing Mount Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse. Namche Bazaar is called as the heart of the Khumbu region. Also, it has the largest Sherpa settlements in Nepal. We decided to spend our night and acclimatize in this ancient valley. We checked in Snow Land Lodge.

Day 3: Acclimatization Day in Namche Bazaar.

We considered this day for acclimatization. Acclimatization is necessary for the body before going to the higher elevation. We had an early morning breakfast and prepared us for a short hike. The trail was stony and steep. Marching for two and a half hours, we reached Syangbuche at an altitude of 3880m. We could see 360 degrees of mountain views from the top. I recognized a few peaks viz Mt. Everest (8848 m), Lhotse (8516 m), Nuptse (7864 m), and Amadablam (6812 m). Also, Kangtega, Thamserku, Tawache, Cholache, Kusum Kangaru and Kongde, and Khumbila were some famous peaks seen in the surrounding.

We stopped by Everest Sherpa Resort on top of the hill for the tea. It was such an unforgettable moment to view such majestic mountains by sipping a cup of famous Nepalese tea. After an hour of the blissful moment, we hiked down to our lodge and had our lunch. We rested the whole afternoon and did some shopping in the evening.

Some facts:
  • You can see a secret mountain on the right side of Mt. Kongde. Its name is Mount Khumbila.
  • Behind it, there is a small village popularly known as a green valley. People say that many years ago, people painted their house’s roof with white sparkle zinc.
  • As a result, the reflection of sunlight caused all snowmelt in Khumbila Mountain. Later on, people realized the effects of white zinc and replaced the roof with green color.
  • After that, villagers called it Green Valley. Besides, Khumbila is a sacred mountain restricted for climbing.

Namche Bazaar | Everest Base Camp Trek Experience

Day 4: Trek to Tengboche 

On our way to Tengboche, we were able to sights peaks like Mt. Everest, Mt Amadablam, Mt. Tabuche, and Mt. Thamserku. We passed a beautiful village named Ports. It is the same village where Ice Climbing training occurs every year. It says that every people in each house can climb high mountains. We arrived at Kyangjuma for the tea break. Then we continued walking past rhododendron and conifer forest. Fortunately, we encountered a Himalayan Tahr (Mountain Goat) grazing in the sloppy rocky hill. Likewise, one fellow traveler informed us that Phortse valley has a high population of Tahr, Himalayan Monal, and other species of Pheasant. The lucky individual can also encounter Snow Leopard’s pug mark and Himalayan Griffon’s nest.

Therefore, carrying that information, we crossed a suspension bridge to reach Phunki Tenga. We rested for a while and had our lunch. Then we walked for two more hours in an upward direction and finally reached today’s destination, Tengboche. We subsequently kept our backpacks on our respected rooms in Tashi Delek Lodge and Restaurant and went out for sightseeing. Sighting awe-inspiring mountain views of Everest, Amadablam, Lhotse, and Thamserku lured us to go closer and touch them. Lastly, we visited 104 years old Tengboche Monastery and returned to the tea house.

Some facts:
  • Total of sixty monks lives in the Tengboche Monastery. Those monks were disciples Guru Rinpoche.
  • Inside the monastery, you can see Mani Rimbu, Lama Sanga Dorje, Lama Gulu, Kalachakra, prayer wheels and thangkas.

Day 5: Trek to Dingboche 

This day awaited us to come across 4000 meters of altitude with quite easy routes. Because of the increment of elevation, we could notice the changes in vegetation. As a result, the tree lines were getting sparse, whereas air was getting thin and windy. We prepared us to walk after breakfast in Tengboche. We descended evenly into rhododendron forest following the Dudh Koshi River. On the way to Lower Pangboche, we crossed an iron bridge, Mani stone, and Conifer forest. Pausing for lunch break at Syomare, we continued trekking forward crossing the tree line. On the height, we could see mountain views and several Yaks and Naks grazing on the grassland.

Walking for about 6 hours, we ultimately reached Dingboche and stayed at Hotel Peaceful Lodge. Dingboche village in the past used to be a summer settlement for transhumance herders. We could sight Lhotse, Amadablam, Imjatse and Taboche peaks from the town.

Day 6: Acclimatization day at Dingboche

We considered this day as our second acclimatization day. After breakfast, we had plans to hike for a few hours and return for lunch. We walked up to Chukung height at an altitude of 4735 m. Chukung height is the gateway to Island Peak and also a right place for acclimatization. Strolling around for a few hours, we could see amazing Mount Makalu, Island Peak, Baruntse, Amphula, Nuptse, Tabuche, and Lhotse. Apart from the Himalayas, we encountered Himalayan Raven, Himalayan Vulture, Common Krestrel, and several Yaks and Naks. However, watching Yaks and Naks made us wonder how unusual species they were to survive above 4000 m. We then hiked down to our tea house and had lunch. Since the day was sunny, so we kept us warm, enjoying the sunlight and hot drinks along with panoramic mountain views.

Day 7: Trek to Lobuche 

From Dingboche, we stepped up on uphill grassland where we could still see Yaks and Naks grazing. We paused for the tea break at Thukla. Marching upwards for an hour after tea break was a considerably tricky section for us. There we saw several Chorten established in the memory of brave climbers attempting Everest and other surrounding peaks. I remember few chortens named after Hristo Prodanov and Babu Chiri Sherpa. They both were famous climbers from Bulgaria and Nepal but passed away after summiting Mt. Everest. We paid tribute in the memory of every brave climber and continued walking towards our destination. After one hour, we finally reached Lobuche. So, we freshened up and rested in the afternoon. Then, we decided to see the Khumbu Glacier situated 100 m up from Lobuche. We returned to our tea house before dark and slept after dinner.

Day 8: Trek to Gorakshep and hike to Everest Base Camp

Having our breakfast, we marched further towards Gorakshep walking on medium rocky hills. We sighted Khumbu glacier and several mountains on the way. Walking for three hours, we reached Buddha Lodge at Gorakshep, where we checked in for night stay. We had our lunch and moved upwards to hit Everest Base Camp. Finally, we accomplished our mission on the eighth day of trekking. We all were thrilled with happiness and excitement for completing our mission. The weather was freezing, and the surrounding was white. However, we could adequately identify Mount Everest, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Pumori, and Mt. Lingtren. We also saw Tibetan Mountain Changtse from the top. Reminiscing the memory and success of reaching EBC, we returned to the tea house and spent overnight there.

Some Facts:

Gorakshep is a combination of two words, Gorak; the raven and Shep; The Sherpas. It says that Sherpas were the first person to see dead Himalayan Ravens in that region. Hence, they named it after that incident. It is also the end place for EBC and Kalapatthar.

9th Day: Trek to Pheriche

Reaching EBC successfully, we decided to visit Kalapatthar as well. It was at an elevation of 5550 m and took us nearly two hours to arrive. We were able to get 360-degrees of mountain panorama. Despite the freezing temperature, we enjoyed mountain views better than EBC. After that, we hiked down to the tea house for breakfast and checked out to descend toward our next stop. We followed the same tracks towards Lobuche, where we had our lunch. Then trekking further for three hours, we finally reached our stop at Pheriche and checked in at Panorama Lodge and Restaurant. Rocky hills and mountains surround the valley. Besides, the weather was windy and cold. We could readily see Mt. Amadablam, Lobuche, Tabuche, Kangtega, Cholatse, and Thamserku from the valley.

Day 10: Trek to Kyangjuma

On the tenth day, we walked on a different route towards Syomare. With constant pace, we passed a few minor uphill and major downhill trails. We crossed the Iron Bridge. Taking a few minutes of tea break in Syomare, we walked again. Finally, we started noticing tree lines while following the Dudh Koshi River trail. Passing rhododendron and pine forest, we reached Tengboche for lunch. So we crossed the same suspension bridge, few coniferous forests, and finally reached today’s destination. We checked in at Amadablam Lodge in Kyangjuma. Hence, we stayed there, resting our night after a delicious dinner.

Day 11: Trek to Chumoa

Leaving the uphill, we descended further on trails following the Dudh Koshi River, Chorten, Mani Stone, and few stupas. Reaching Namche Bazaar, we had lunch at the same tea house where we stayed for two consecutive nights. After fueling ourselves, we stretched our legs slowly through rhododendron and pine forest. We passed Dudh Koshi River crossing suspension bridges and giant prayer wheels. We reached TIMS checking office, where the officials check our park permit and TIMS card. Finishing the necessary checkups, we finally reached Chumoa Guest House and checked in for night stay.

 Day 12: Trek to Lukla

Leaving mountains and my Everest Base Camp Trek experience behind, we descended to Lukla walking on the same trails but backward direction. We checked in at the same tea house where we stayed on our first day.

Day 13: Fly to Kathmandu

Finally, my vacation in the mountains ended on this day. So, we took a mountain flight back to Kathmandu which was scheduled at 10 am due to foul weather. Arriving at Tribhuwan International Airport, we returned to our hotel where we had lunch together for the last time. Then, I took a taxi back to my home.
