Overview of Glimpse of Nepal and Tibet Tour

Get ready for a fantastic adventure with our Glimpse of Nepal and Tibet Tour! It’s not just a quick look; it’s a chance to step inside the vibrant world of Kathmandu, the peaceful beauty of Pokhara, and the jaw-dropping mountains of Tibet. You’ll see dazzling peaks that touch the clouds, ancient temples whispering stories of the past, and friendly faces that welcome you with warm smiles.

Imagine Nepal and Tibet as two chapters in a book connected by the mighty Himalayas. This mountain range is home to the tallest peak in the world, Mount Everest! Even though they’re neighbors, these two countries are more different than they are alike. Their customs, religions, landscapes, and even the way they travel are unique.

In Nepal, you’ll wander through bustling markets filled with colorful spices and find peace in hidden temples draped in prayer flags. Then, in Tibet, you’ll stand in awe of vast, empty plains and explore ancient monasteries high in the mountains. But even with all these differences, there’s one thing that connects them: the kind spirit of the people. Both Nepalese and Tibetans are known for their generosity, their warm hospitality, and their passion for their traditions.

This shared spirit brings people together in the most remarkable ways. You might share a cup of tea with a local family, watch a lively dance performance in a village square, or even find yourself joining in a prayer chant that echoes through the mountains. Nepal and Tibet are like sparkling kaleidoscopes, waiting for you to explore their hidden corners and discover the magic they hold.

Important Travel Note

In accordance with a recent directive from the Chinese Government, specific travel restrictions are in place. Travelers who enter Tibet from Nepal by road are not permitted to depart from Lhasa via a flight. To accommodate this regulation, we have curated the Tibet Overland Package as an alternative to flying back from Lhasa. It’s important to note that, at present, no direct flights are operating between Lhasa and Kathmandu.

As a result, your revised itinerary will be as follows:

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu
Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing
Day 03: Drive to Pokhara
Day 04: Pokhara Sightseeing
Day 05: Drive back to Kathmandu
Day 06: Kathmandu to Kerung
Day 07: Kerung to Tingri
Day 08: Tingri to Shigatse
Day 09: Shigatse to Lhasa
Day 10: Lhasa Sightseeing
Day 11: Lhasa Sightseeing
Day 12: Return to Shegar
Day 13: Return to Kathmandu
Day 14: Departure

It’s important to note that should the Chinese Government introduce a direct flight route from Lhasa to Kathmandu in the future, we will offer the option of a Lhasa to Kathmandu flight instead of the overland tour. Your flexibility and understanding in this matter are greatly appreciated, and we will keep you updated on any developments regarding the travel arrangements.

    Banking and ATMs in Tibet

Planning a trip to the breathtaking plateau of Tibet? Get ready for awe-inspiring mountains, ancient monasteries, and a taste of unique culture. But before you pack your bags, there’s one crucial thing to remember: banking in Tibet is limited.

    Here’s the scoop:

Cash Rules: Forget ATMs! They’re scarce, especially in smaller towns like Shigatse or Saga. Even in Lhasa, you might find only one lonely ATM hiding in a corner. So, the golden rule is to bring enough cash for your entire trip.

Big Bank Backup: Luckily, some reliable Chinese banks do have branches in Tibet: Bank of China, Construction Bank of China, and Agriculture Bank of China. If you carry cards from these banks, you can access your hard-earned cash.

ATM Glitches: Even these reliable ATMs can be temperamental. Expect malfunctions, card reader errors, and the occasional blank-screen blues. Don’t rely solely on them – think of cash as your trusty travel companion.

Credit Card Cash Advance: Feeling strapped for cash? The Bank of China offers a lifeline – credit card cash advances. But be prepared for a 3% fee and a daily limit of RMB 2,000.

Pro Tip: Stock up on cash before you leave for Tibet. Your future self will thank you!

Tibet might be light on ATMs, but it’s heavy on incredible experiences. Stunning landscapes, vibrant culture, and a touch of adventure await. Just remember, be a cash-savvy traveler, and your Tibetan adventure will be smooth sailing – or should we say, smooth yak riding?

    Road Condition in Tibet

Get ready for epic landscapes, ancient wonders, and, well, roads that come in all flavors! Here’s the scoop on what to expect:

City Slickin’ Smoothness: Cities like Lhasa, Nyingchi, and Shigatse have been busy paving the way for smooth sailing. These tourist hotspots now boast asphalt roads as slick as yak butter – perfect for zipping between temples and markets.

Beyond the City Lights: Venturing off the beaten path? Be prepared for a change in scenery (and road quality). Journeys to Everest Base Camp or Mount Kailash might involve bumpy dirt roads that kick up a dusty dance party in your wake. Think rugged adventure, not highway cruise.

Weather Matters: Rain and snow can turn even the smoothest road into a slippery slide. Remote areas and mountain passes are especially vulnerable, like the road to Namtso Lake, which can get snowed entirely during winter. Check the forecast before you set off!

Pro Tip: Pack your sense of adventure and embrace the bumps as part of the Tibetan experience. After all, sometimes the most breathtaking views are found at the end of the dustiest ride.

    Tips on Tipping

Navigating tipping etiquette can be a tricky endeavor when visiting Nepal and Tibet. As a general rule of thumb, providing a 5-10 percent tip for services such as meals, taxis, and tour guides is typically polite. However, in some cases, like for transportation services, the tip is often included in the final fee.

When tipping service staff, it’s best to tip in the local currency, as the exchange rate may not be favorable for those receiving foreign currency.

It is also polite to offer a small token of gratitude to anyone who has provided a valuable service.

Packing list for Nepal and Tibet Tour

Packing for your epic adventure through Nepal and Tibet? Get ready for stunning mountains, vibrant cultures, and memories that will last a lifetime! But before you grab your backpack, check out this list of essential items to ensure your journey is as smooth as a yak gliding on ice:

Comfy Feet for Cozy Trekking: Pack comfortable walking shoes or hiking boots that can handle mountain trails and city streets. Think sturdy soles and a good grip – your feet will thank you!

Layer Up like a Pro: Pack warm layers like fleece jackets and thermal shirts. You’ll need them for chilly evenings high in the mountains and unexpected weather changes. A lightweight down jacket is a bonus for extra warmth!

Rainy Day Rescue: Don’t forget a waterproof jacket to keep you dry in sudden downpours. Remember, the weather in both Nepal and Tibet can be unpredictable, so be prepared!

Travel First-Aid Kit: Pack a small first-aid kit with essentials like bandages, pain relievers, and medications for common ailments like stomach upset. You’ll be glad you did if you need a quick ouch-fix.

Health Essentials: Bring any prescription medications you need, along with sunscreen, sunhats, and sunglasses.

Camera Magic: Capture breathtaking landscapes and unique cultures with a good camera. Don’t forget extra batteries and memory cards – you’ll want to soak up every moment!

    Remember:

    • Pack for diverse climates. You’ll encounter everything from chilly mountains to sunny lowlands.
    • Layering is key! You can always add or remove clothes to adjust to changing weather.
    • Don’t overpack! Focus on versatile items that you can mix and match.

So, with these essentials by your side, you’re ready to conquer the Himalayas and embrace the magic that awaits in Nepal and Tibet. Let the adventure begin!
