    Type C, D, and M power plugs and sockets are used. The standard voltage and frequency are 230 V and 50Hz, respectively.

    Vaccinations You must be completely vaccinated against COVID-19 at least 14 days before traveling to Nepal. Vaccination documentation is required.

    On Arrival Visas are available at Nepal's entrance points for travelers. Travelers from Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Cameroon, Somalia, Liberia, Ethiopia, Iraq, Palestine, Afghanistan, and Syria, on the other hand, are required to obtain a visa through their nearest Nepalese diplomatic post (embassy/consulate).

    To confirm the trek/tour package, we want a deposit of at least 20% of the total tour/trek fee. The remaining balance must be paid when you arrive in Nepal. We take Visa, Maestro, MasterCard, American Express, and other major credit cards. The total cost of a Bhutan and Tibet tour must be paid in full at the time of booking.

    We strongly advise you to purchase a SIM card for reliable internet access throughout Nepal. Nepal Telecom (owned by the government) and NCELL (owned by the private sector) are the two main SIM card providers in Nepal. It is preferable to get a SIM card at an airport, where staff will assist with activation and data plan purchases. If you have a SIM card, it will be easier for you to contact us and locate our airport agent.

    You can charge your electrical devices at hotels and lodges because there are no power outages. In the Himalayan region, however, hotel owners may levy a nominal fee.

    Passport and Visa Information

    For all travelers preparing for their Oman Holidays, possessing a valid passport is of utmost importance. Please ensure that your passport maintains its validity for a minimum of six months beyond your intended return date and includes between 2 and 6 blank pages designated for visa stamps. A visa is included in your package.

    Local Time

    Oman observes Oman Standard Time (IST), which is 4 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

    Electricity

    In Oman, the electrical system runs on 220 and 240 volts at a frequency of 50 Hz. The most common plug type is the square three-pin.

    Language

    Arabic is the official language. Other spoken languages include Swahili and Baluchi, with English widely used, especially in business contexts.

    Currency, Banking, and Financial Services

    The Omani Rial (OMR), subdivided into 1,000 baiza, is the currency. Banknotes come in denominations of OMR 50, 20, 10, 5, 1, and smaller notes like 500, 250, 200, and 100 baiza, while coins are in 50, 25, 10, and 5 baiza denominations. Major credit and debit cards are accepted, and ATMs are readily available. Banking hours typically are Saturday to Wednesday from 0800 to 1200 and Thursday from 0800 to 1130. For currency conversion, websites like XE.com are helpful.

    Clothing Recommendations for Oman Holiday

    Lightweight cotton clothing is advisable year-round, with a warm wrap for cooler evenings, mountain trips, and heavily air-conditioned indoor areas.

    Communication and Connectivity

    Oman’s country code is +968. Mobile telephone coverage varies, with roaming agreements in place with many international providers. Internet cafes are widespread, and airmail to Western Europe usually takes three to four days.

    Weather and Climate

    The ideal time to visit Oman is from November to mid-March, with average daytime temperatures around 25°C and clear mountain views. From May to August, the climate is generally hot and hazy. During mid-June to late August, the Khareef, or rainy season, brings cooler, drizzly weather to southern Oman, especially in Dhofar.

    Dining and Drinking Costs

    Approximate costs for dining (excluding those included in Oman Muscat Holiday Packages) are as follows: simple snack – US$5, light meal – US$10-18, and fancy restaurant – US$25-40. Drink costs in shops are 1l of water – US$2, 30cl soft drink – US$2, and 50cl beer – US$7. Note that prices in restaurants, hotels, and cruise boats can be significantly higher.

    Alcohol Consumption and Smoking

    Alcohol is available for non-Muslims in certain bars, restaurants, clubs, and hotels. Public smoking and alcohol consumption are prohibited, with strict laws in place. Smoking is banned in public spaces, and under-20s cannot purchase cigarettes or access designated smoking areas. During Ramadan, public eating, drinking, and smoking are illegal.

    Health Precautions

    No specific vaccinations are required for entry to Oman, except for cholera and yellow fever if coming from affected areas. Consider bottled water for drinking and brushing teeth, as water outside the capital may be contaminated. It’s advisable to consume well-cooked meat and fish and peeled vegetables and fruits.

    Local Customs and Etiquette

    Respect local customs and laws, especially in public behavior and dress. Modest dress is expected, particularly during Ramadan. Handshakes are common greetings, and small promotional or cultural gifts are appreciated. Photography of people or property should be done with permission, and ‘No Photography’ signs must be respected during the Oman Holiday.
