The standard Manaslu Circuit Trek runs as a budget group route. The Luxury Manaslu Trek delivers the same legendary trail with a completely different service level. Most operators sell a $1,700 package and call it luxury. The marketing says luxury, but the reality runs differently. Unnamed hotels. Group guides. Best available rooms on arrival. Shared transport in one direction. The Luxury Manaslu Trek costs USD 4,900 per person. Every touchpoint upgrades beyond standard packages. The price reflects honest service costs, not marketing markups.

Six traveler types find this package a strong fit. Read the persona that matches you.
Affluent Couples Aged 35 to 55: You want adventure with comfort. You dislike group chaos and shared schedules. The Luxury Manaslu Trek includes a private guide, private rooms, and flexible pacing over 18 days.
Active Seniors Aged 55 to 70: You stay fit but cautious. Slower pace, porter support, better lodges, and pulse oximeter monitoring all matter. The Bimthang rest day on Day 14 reinforces recovery after the Larkya La crossing.
Solo Premium Travelers: You hold a high budget and limited time. Seamless logistics matter more than savings. Peregrine handles every detail.
Note on solo travel: the Manaslu Restricted Area Permit requires a minimum of 2 trekkers per group. Solo travelers join an existing private departure or pair up at booking.
Small Private Groups of 3 to 6: Friends or family who want exclusive service. The 6-guest cap means no strangers join your trek. Group savings of 10% apply for 3 to 4 guests, and 14% for 5 to 6 guests.
Repeat Nepal Visitors: You have already completed the Everest Base Camp or the Annapurna Circuit. The Manaslu Circuit gives you something quieter, more remote, and culturally richer. The restricted-area status keeps tourist numbers low.
First-Time Himalayan Trekkers with High Budget: You feel nervous about remote trekking. You want safety, comfort, and expert guidance. The premium price buys confidence.
If you want a lower altitude and shorter duration, look at the Luxury Poon Hill Trek (10 days, 3,210 meters). If you prefer Everest views over remote culture, see the Luxury Everest Panorama Trek. Budget backpackers, large group joiners, and travelers expecting 5-star hotel standards on the trail all suit different packages.
A private chauffeur in a uniform meets you at Tribhuvan International Airport with a personalized placard. Chilled towels and Himalayan mineral water wait in the back seat of your climate-controlled vehicle. The 30 to 45-minute drive to the Radisson Hotel Kathmandu offers your first glimpse of pagoda rooflines and prayer flags. No sightseeing happens today. Rest comes first after a long international travel.
The Radisson features an outdoor pool, an executive lounge, a full spa, and fine-dining restaurants. Your suite delivers polished wood, crisp white linens, and a marble bathroom. As dusk settles, your Lead Guide hosts a welcome dinner in the hotel’s private dining room. A three-course meal pairs Nepali spices with Continental finesse.
Trip Director note: You already know your Trip Director by name from the pre-arrival call three days ago. Tonight, the Trip Director joins the welcome dinner briefly to make in-person introductions.
Elevation: 1400m
Accommodation: Raddisson Hotel Kathmandu (5★)
Meal: Welcome Dinner
After breakfast, your private cultural guide and chauffeur collect you for a curated day. The vehicle stays spacious, air-conditioned, and stocked with chilled drinks.
The morning visits Swayambhunath Stupa, the Monkey Temple, with panoramic views of the Kathmandu Valley. Boudhanath Stupa follows — one of the largest stupas in the world. Patan Durbar Square holds medieval Newari architecture.

Afternoon trek preparation: gear check at the office, sleeping bag fitting, dietary preferences review, emergency contact collection, and permit photo documentation. Your guide briefs you on the 18-day plan. Pulse oximeter readings start tonight as a baseline. Your duffel bag and trekking map arrive in your hotel room.
Optional evening: a curated Newari dinner at a heritage restaurant in Patan, arranged by your Trip Director on request.
Elevation: 1400m
Accommodation: Radisson Hotel Kathmandu (5★)
Meal: Breakfast at Radisson
Early morning departure by private Scorpio. The route runs west from Kathmandu to Arughat, then north along the Budhi Gandaki River. The drive runs 8 to 9 hours total. Rural Nepal unfolds outside the window. Terraced rice paddies, Hindu temples, and small market towns mark the route.

Your driver stops at scenic viewpoints. A packed lunch from the hotel keeps you moving. The road narrows after Arughat into a rough mountain track. Arrival at Machha Khola at 930 meters happens in the late afternoon. Hotel Nirvana hosts the night. The lodge offers basic but clean rooms — the first calibration to trail standards.
Accommodation: Hotel Nirvana, Machha Khola
Meal: Breakfast(B) at Radisson, packed Lunch (L), Dinner (D) at Hotel Nirvana
The first full trekking day enters the Budhi Gandaki gorge. The route climbs gently along the riverbank with views of pine-forested cliff faces. A natural hot springs stop at Tatopani breaks the morning. Many trekkers cite this as a highlight of the lower trail. Permit verification happens at Jagat. Your guide handles all paperwork. The Manaslu Restricted Area Permit takes effect at this checkpoint.

Honest note: Jagat lodging stays basic. No pre-booked premium rooms exist at this elevation. Your guide secures the best available rooms each season.
Distance: ~14 km | Walk: 7 hours | Elevation Gain: +410m
Accommodation: Best available lodge, Jagat
Meal: B, L, D
The trail continues up the Budhi Gandaki gorge. The valley narrows. Suspension bridges cross side streams every few hours. The Tsum Valley junction appears at midday. The Tsum Valley runs east into a separate restricted region. The Manaslu route stays on the main trail north.

Cultural shift begins after the junction. Hindu hill villages give way to the first Tibetan Buddhist settlements. Mani walls and prayer wheels appear. Hotel Windy Valley in Deng offers the best available room at 1,860 meters above sea level. The lodge runs basic but clean, with a heated dining room.
Distance: ~20 km | Walk: 7 hours | Elevation Gain: +520m
Accommodation: Hotel Windy Valley, Deng
Meal: B, L, D
The trail enters the Nubri Valley. The geography opens. Pine forest replaces the gorge walls. Tibetan Buddhist culture defines the villages. Shiringi Himal at 7,187 meters appears on the horizon. The mountain marks the transition into the Manaslu region.
Arrival in Namrung at 2,630 meters is expected by mid-afternoon. Nubri Four Seasons features deluxe rooms and a working monastery with views from the dining terrace. Pulse oximeter readings are taken each morning from this elevation onward. Your guide tracks oxygen saturation and resting heart rate.
Distance: ~20 km | Walk: 7 hours | Elevation Gain: +770m
Accommodation: Nubri Four Season, Namrung
Meal: B, L, D
The trail climbs through Lho village. Lho holds the first major monastery on the route. Optional visit on arrival or departure, depending on your guide’s pacing. Lho also delivers the first clear views of Manaslu — the world’s eighth-highest mountain at 8,163 meters. Many trekkers stop here for an extended photography break.

The trail continues through a pine forest to Shyala at 3,500 meters. Hotel Royal Gorkha hosts the night with mountain-facing rooms. Manaslu and Manaslu North dominate the view from the lodge terrace. The afternoon stays unstructured — most trekkers rest, photograph, or visit the local monastery.
Distance: ~16 km | Walk: 6 hours | Elevation Gain: +870m
Accommodation: Hotel Royal Gorkha, Shyala
Meal: B, L, D
A short walking day with a major cultural detour. The route includes a side trip to Pungyen Gompa — a working monastery with direct glacier views. Pungyen Gompa earns its place as a highlight of the entire trek. The monastery sits in a high meadow with the Pungyen Glacier flowing toward you. Few trekkers visit.
The route descends to Samagaon at 3,520 meters. Hotel Mt. Manaslu hosts the next two nights. Your private room offers an attached bathroom — the last attached bathroom for several days. Samagaon village holds a working community of around 200 households. Tibetan refugees settled here generations ago. The cultural feel runs distinctly Tibetan.
Distance: ~10 km | Walk: 6 hours | Elevation Gain: +20m
Accommodation: Hotel Mt. Manaslu, Samagaon
Meal: B, L, D
A critical acclimatization day. The principle of go high, sleep low applies. You hike to a higher altitude during the day and return to sleep at 3,520 meters. Two main hike options work well. Option one: a 3-hour return walk to Birendra Lake — a glacial lake at the foot of the Manaslu Glacier. Option two: a longer 6-hour return hike to Manaslu Base Camp at 4,800 meters.

Your guide recommends the option that fits your fitness and acclimatization status. Pulse oximeter readings happen in the morning and evening. Any reading below normal triggers the shorter Birendra Lake option. Samagaon also holds the Sama Monastery and a small community museum. Cultural exploration works well as an alternative to a high hike.
Hike: 3–6 hours, optional.
Accommodation: Hotel Mt. Manaslu, Samagaon (2nd night)
Meal: B, L, D at Hotel Mt. Manaslu
A deliberately short walking day. The 3-hour walk supports acclimatization rather than testing fitness. The trail follows the Budhi Gandaki upstream through a wide, high-altitude valley. Wildflowers in spring and golden grasses in autumn fill the route.
Samdo, at 3,875 meters, sits near the Tibetan border. The village holds Tibetan refugees who arrived after 1959. The cultural feel runs more Tibetan than Nepali. Hotel Snow Lion runs as the best lodge in Samdo. The rooms stay basic but warm. The dining room serves hot food and welcome drinks.
Distance: ~8 km | Walk: 3 hours | Elevation Gain: +355m
Accommodation: Hotel Snow Lion, Samdo
Meal: B, L, D at Hotel Snow Lion
A second acclimatization day. The protocol matters more here than anywhere else on the trek. Larkya La Pass sits 1,231 meters above your current altitude.
Recommended hike: The Rui La pass viewpoint at 4,998 meters. The 5-hour return walk gives a clear view of Tibet. Wildlife sightings include blue sheep and Himalayan tahr.
Alternative hike: a shorter 3-hour walk to the Fukang Glacier viewpoint. The glacier flows from Manaslu’s flank into the valley. Your guide runs pulse oximeter readings before and after the hike. Any concerning trend triggers a slower Day 12 pace or an extra rest day.

Hike: 3–5 hours, optional.
Accommodation: Hotel Snow Lion, Samdo (2nd night)
Meal: B, L, D at Hotel Snow Lion
The trail climbs steadily out of Samdo to Larkya Bazaar — a seasonal market site. The route then continues up to Dharamsala at 4,460 meters. Dharamsala serves as the final pre-pass camp. The village holds three or four basic stone lodges. Hotel Peaceful runs the best of them.
Honest disclosure: Dharamsala stays basic. No lodge upgrades exist at 4,460 meters. Rooms are small. Walls run thin. Bathrooms are shared. The Luxury Manaslu Trek does not pretend that Dharamsala holds 5-star comfort. Your guide secures the best available room and ensures hot water and warm food are available. The honest framing matters more than marketing claims.
Early dinner serves at 5:30 PM. Final gear check happens at 7 PM. The wake-up time is 3:30 AM for the Larkya La crossing.
Distance: ~7 km | Walk: 5 hours | Elevation Gain: +585m
Accommodation: Hotel Peaceful, Dharamsala
Meal: B, L, D at Hotel Peaceful
The longest and hardest day of the entire Luxury Manaslu Trek. Pre-dawn start at 4:00 AM. Headlamps light the first three hours of the climb. The route ascends gradually from Dharamsala to the pass approach. Glacial moraines line the path. The wind picks up as elevation increases.
Larkya La Pass at 5,106 meters arrives by mid-morning. Prayer flags mark the high point. The 360-degree views cover Manaslu, Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, and Annapurna II.

Honest correction: Larkya La measures 5,106 meters, not the 5,160 meters that some operators advertise. Peregrine uses verified survey data.
Time at the pass runs 30 to 45 minutes for photography and rest. Cold and wind limit longer stops.
The descent runs steep and long. The route drops 1,516 meters to Bimthang at 3,590 meters. The first kilometer descends through loose scree — trekking poles essential.
The lower descent enters meadows and forest. Bimthang sits in a wide grassy valley with Manaslu’s western face dominating the horizon. Ponkar Guest House hosts the night. A welcome drink, a hot meal, and a heated dining room close the longest day. Pulse oximeter check happens on arrival. Your guide assesses your condition for Day 14.
Distance: ~24 km | Walk: 8–10 hours | Elevation: +646m / -1,516m
Accommodation: Ponkar Guest House, Bimthang
Meal: B, packed L, D at Ponkar Guest House
Day 14 holds the defining luxury feature of the entire Luxury Manaslu Trek. Most operators continue trekking the morning after Larkya La. Peregrine builds in a full recovery day. Bimthang sits in one of Nepal’s most beautiful settings. The wide, grassy meadow stretches from Manaslu’s western face to Cheo Himal.
The day stays deliberately unstructured. Sleep late. Eat slowly. Walk gently around the meadow. Photograph the mountain in different light. Optional short hikes include a 2-hour walk to Ponkar Lake — a glacial lake nestled below Manaslu’s western flank. Your guide leads the optional hike if your body has recovered.
Most trekkers cite Day 14 as the most memorable day of the entire trek. The combination of physical rest, mental decompression, and the Bimthang setting creates a unique experience.
Why we include this day: The Larkya La crossing is strenuous for every guest. A continued descent the next morning works for budget trekkers who need to minimize costs. The Luxury Manaslu Trek prioritizes guest experience over cost-cutting.
Activity: Full rest day at Bimthang — recovery after Larkya La
Accommodation: Ponkar Guest House (2nd night)
Meal: B, L, D at Ponkar Guest
Recovery feels noticeable on Day 15. The descent runs long but is not punishing. The route drops through a rhododendron forest from the high valley to the Marsyangdi Valley. Spring brings full rhododendron bloom along this section. Red, pink, and white flowers fill the canopy from late March through May.
Multiple waterfalls cross the trail. The forest stays cool and shaded. Birds and small mammals appear regularly. Hotel Nirvana Garden in Goa offers deluxe rooms with attached bathrooms and hot showers. The lodge sits beside a small waterfall. Garden seating surrounds the dining room.
Distance: ~16 km | Walk: 5–6 hours | Elevation Loss: -1,075m
Accommodation: Hotel Nirvana Garden, Goa
Meal: B, L, D at Hotel Nirvana Garden
A short final trail morning from Goa to Dharapani. The route follows the Marsyangdi River and briefly joins the Annapurna Circuit. Dharapani sits at 1,860 meters. Your private jeep waits at the trailhead. Your trail clothes change for road clothes. Your trekking poles get packed.
The drive from Dharapani to Besisahar runs 4 hours on a rough mountain road. Beautiful gorge scenery passes on either side. Gateway Himalaya Resort in Besisahar hosts the night. The property runs as a luxury resort with a swimming pool, spa, and fine dining. Your room offers full hotel amenities — the first true hotel comfort since Kathmandu.
Trek: ~7 km, 3 hours | Drive: ~4 hours by private jeep
Accommodation: Gateway Himalaya Resort, Besisahar
Meal: B, L, D at Gateway Himalaya Resort
Morning departure by private Scorpio or Land Cruiser. The route runs east through Pokhara to Kathmandu — 6 to 7 hours total. The drive crosses the Trishuli River and runs alongside green hills. A scenic lunch stop happens at a riverside restaurant.
Arrival at the Radisson Hotel Kathmandu happens in the late afternoon. Hot shower. Western food. Soft bed. The first contact with full luxury after 14 trial days. Evening farewell dinner at a fine-dining restaurant. The trek completion certificate arrives at the table on handmade Nepali paper. Your handwritten note from your lead guide waits on your pillow when you return to the hotel.
Drive: 6–7 hours by private vehicle
Accommodation: Radisson Hotel Kathmandu
Meal: B at resort, farewell D in Kathmandu

The two main seasons for the Luxury Manaslu Trek are. Each season offers a different reason to go.
| Month | Conditions | Best For | Notes |
| March | Cold mornings, dry skies | Quieter trail seekers | Lower forests start to bloom |
| April | Rhododendron bloom, clear skies | Couples, photographers | Peak spring season |
| May | Warmer, slight haze | Late spring travelers | Pre-monsoon clouds appear late in the month |
| June–August | Monsoon — not recommended | Avoid | Heavy rain, leeches, landslide risk |
| September | Monsoon ends, skies clear | Late September works | Trail dries by mid-month |
| October | Sharpest mountain views | All profiles | Peak booking month |
| November | Cold mornings, clear days | Quieter trail, winter approach | Larkya La gets cold late in the month |
| December–February | Cold, snow on Larkya La | Not recommended | Pass closure risk increases |
Larkya La pass closure risk increases in late November and runs significantly from December through February. Snow can block the pass for days. We do not run departures during these months
The Luxury Manaslu Trek rates Moderate to Strenuous. Daily walking on the Luxury Manaslu Trek ranges from three to ten hours over 13 active trekking days. Day 13 — the Larkya La crossing — is the hardest day of the trek. The 8 to 10-hour day starts at 4:00 AM. The route crosses a high-altitude pass at 5,106 meters and descends 1,516 meters to Bimthang.
Recommended preparation: 12 to 16 weeks of cardio and strength training before departure. A 60-minute brisk walk five times a week, paired with stair climbing or hill walking, provides the foundation.
Porter support means you carry only a daypack with water, camera, and a light layer. The 1:1 porter ratio runs more generously than the industry standard. If you walk five hours comfortably on uneven ground at sea level, you can complete most days of the route. Day 13 demands additional preparation. Honest fitness assessment before booking matters more than wishful thinking.
The highest point on the Luxury Manaslu Trek is 5,106 meters at Larkya La Pass. The day-by-day ascent profile follows established acclimatization principles.
Most guests complete the route without altitude sickness symptoms. The slow ascent profile and built-in acclimatization days significantly reduce the risk.
The Luxury Manaslu Trek treats porters as full team members. Peregrine sets a higher bar than the industry standard. Every Luxury Manaslu Trek booking funds porter welfare, conservation, and the livelihoods of the Manaslu region community directly.
Private 1:1 Porter Ratio: One private porter supports each trekker on the Luxury Manaslu Trek. The ratio is 1:1, not the standard 1:2 for standard operators. You always have direct support throughout the 18-day trek.
Wages 40% Above Industry Standard: Peregrine pays porter wages 40% above the Nepal Mountaineering Association industry minimum. Tips remain entirely separate and entirely yours to give. Higher base wages mean every porter receives fair compensation regardless of guest tipping.
Provided Gear: Every porter receives a full gear kit each season. The kit includes a down jacket, waterproof shell, fleece, gloves, headlamp, sunglasses, and proper trekking boots. Gear remains the porter’s property at the end of the season.
Training and Career Path: Our porters complete a basic English language program annually. First-aid awareness training is mandatory. Many of our senior Manaslu guides started as porters in our program before earning their guide license.
Insurance Coverage: Health insurance and accident coverage apply to every porter on every trek. Coverage runs through the full trekking season and renews each year. Larkya La crossing insurance applies specifically for high-altitude pass crossings.
Maximum Weight Limits: Peregrine caps porter loads at 20 kg per porter on the Luxury Manaslu Trek. The number sits well below the local industry norm of 25 to 30 kg. Lighter loads protect long-term porter health on the demanding 18-day route.
Lodging Dignity: Porters receive proper rooms in lodges. They do not sleep on dining-room floors or in storage rooms. We pay full lodge rates for porter accommodation, not the discount some operators negotiate at the porter’s expense.
Carbon and Waste Practices: We use refillable water systems on every trek. We carry out all packaging waste from the restricted area. Every booking funds tree planting in the Manaslu Conservation Area through MCAP.
The Luxury Manaslu Trek works as a milestone trip, an anniversary, or a significant personal challenge. The Luxury Manaslu Trek package itself includes most special moments by default. Couples and groups already receive several distinct moments. The private Kathmandu cultural day. The Pungyen Gompa monastery detour. The Larkya La crossing. The Bimthang rest day. The fine-dining farewell dinner.
Optional special touches you can request at booking:
We typically do not push add-ons. The package already delivers the experience most luxury trekkers want.
The Luxury Manaslu Trek travels through three distinct cultural zones. The package gives you depth that standard schedules skip past.
Days 1, 2, 17, and 18 anchor in Kathmandu. The valley holds Nepal’s deepest food culture. Newari cuisine sits at its center. Your private guide can arrange a Newari samay baji feast at a heritage restaurant. The platter includes beaten rice, fried egg, soybean curry, smoked buffalo, and aila — the traditional Newari spirit.
Days 3 to 5 pass through Hindu hill villages. Magar and Gurung communities farm the slopes. Hindu temples and small Buddhist shrines mix along the trail. Trail food stays basic at this altitude. Dal bhat (lentil soup, rice, vegetables, pickle) appears at every meal. Local hot chili pickle adds character.
Days 6 to 14: Enter the Nubri Valley. The cultural shift runs distinct. Tibetan Buddhist communities replace Hindu villages. Mani walls, prayer wheels, and chortens fill the route. Lho, Shyala, Samagaon, and Samdo all hold working Tibetan communities. Many residents trace their ancestry to refugees who arrived after 1959.
Highlight monasteries include Lho Gompa, Pungyen Gompa (Day 8 detour), and Sama Monastery in Samagaon. Each holds active monk communities and welcomes respectful visitors.
Trail cuisine in the Nubri Valley adds Tibetan options: thukpa noodle soup, momos (steamed dumplings), tsampa (roasted barley flour), and butter tea. Yak cheese appears at most lodges above Namrung.
Day 14 at Bimthang stands as the spiritual center of the entire trek. The wide grassy meadow holds direct views of Manaslu’s western face. Many trekkers describe the day as more meaningful than the Larkya La crossing itself. The combination of physical recovery and the Bimthang setting creates lasting memory.
The Luxury Manaslu Trek accommodates vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal, kosher, and major allergen restrictions. Disclose your dietary needs at booking. Your lead guide reconfirms with each lodge before arrival.
Most operators sell their Manaslu Trek as a luxury and deliver standard service. The Luxury Manaslu Trek runs differently. Honest framing matters more than marketing language.
The best available room at every stop, pre-booked and confirmed in writing
Honest disclosure builds trust with luxury buyers. The list below shows what luxury cannot fix on the Manaslu Circuit.
We believe luxury buyers deserve transparency. The Luxury Manaslu Trek price breaks down across six clear categories.
| Category | Approx. Share | What It Covers |
| Premium accommodation | 18% | Radisson Kathmandu (4 nights), Gateway Himalaya Besisahar, pre-booked trail lodges (13 nights) |
| Guide and porter team | 22% | Senior licensed guide and 1:1 private porter for 18 days, with 40% above-industry wages |
| Permits and fees | 8% | Manaslu RAP, MCAP, ACAP, TIMS card |
| Private transport | 8% | Private Scorpio Kathmandu–Machha Khola, jeep Dharapani–Besisahar, vehicle Besisahar–Kathmandu, all city transfers |
| Meals and trail support | 18% | Full-board trail meals, welcome and farewell dinners, hot showers, charging, Wi-Fi |
| Safety, ops, and Peregrine value-adds | 26% | Satellite communication, pulse oximeter, premium sleeping bag, down jacket, Trip Director, photo album, government taxes, agency overhead |
The standard Manaslu Circuit Trek runs around USD 1,500 per person. The Luxury Manaslu Trek costs USD 4,900. The price gap reflects real cost differences, not marketing markup. A senior guide with 5+ Manaslu seasons costs more than a junior group guide. A 1:1 porter ratio costs more than 1:2. Pre-booked rooms cost more than walk-in availability. Premium gear costs more than a rental-grade kit.
Booking direct with Peregrine in Kathmandu eliminates Western agency markups of 30-50%. The savings translate directly to better lodge selections, fairer guide and porter pay, and stronger safety equipment.
Your safety drives every decision on the Luxury Manaslu Trek. Peregrine layers eight protections across the 18-day trip. Every safety system on the Luxury Manaslu Trek runs by design, not by chance.
Your lead guide on the Luxury Manaslu Trek holds a senior license from the Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management. Wilderness First Aid certification renews annually. Each lead guide carries 5+ Manaslu seasons of experience.
Pulse oximeter readings happen each morning and evening from Day 6 onward. Your guide tracks trends in oxygen saturation and resting heart rate. Any concerning trend triggers a slower pace, an extra rest day, or descent.
Every guide carries a comprehensive first-aid kit. Emergency oxygen sits ready for altitude concerns. A water-purification system removes bacteria, viruses, and parasites along the trail.
Satellite communication runs critically on the Manaslu Circuit. Cell coverage drops out for days at a time in the restricted area. Our guide carries a satellite phone or InReach device on every departure.
Peregrine maintains direct relationships with three Kathmandu-based helicopter operators. The average helicopter response time from Samagaon or Samdo is 90 to 120 minutes during daylight. Your travel insurance must cover helicopter evacuation up to 5,500 meters. The policy must also cover trip cancellation and high-altitude trekking. We confirm coverage before departure.
You disclose any pre-existing conditions at booking. We adjust the itinerary, medication carrying plan, and pace accordingly. Cardiac, respiratory, joint, and diabetes conditions receive specific attention from your lead guide.
Peregrine vets every trail lodge kitchen we use. We provide filtered drinking water at every meal stop. The reusable Peregrine bottle removes the need for single-use plastic.
The Manaslu Restricted Area sits remote and lightly populated. Medical infrastructure remains minimal between Namrung and Dharapani. Helicopter evacuation runs as the primary emergency response option. Your senior guide makes safety decisions, not service decisions. If altitude or weather conditions warrant a turnaround, the guide’s call stands. The package includes refunds for unused services in evacuation scenarios.
Larkya La Pass crossing weather runs unpredictably. Heavy snow can close the pass for days. Strong winds at the summit can force a descent without crossing. If a pass closure forces a turnaround, Peregrine arranges a helicopter evacuation from Samdo at the operator’s first available window. Your travel insurance covers the cost of the helicopter.
Four permits are required for the Luxury Manaslu Trek route. Peregrine arranges all four before your trek begins. The Manaslu Restricted Area Permit runs as the most important and time-sensitive.
The RAP runs at USD 100 per person for the first 7 days in September through November, plus USD 15 per person per day after that. Off-season pricing (December through August) drops to USD 75 plus USD 10 per day. Three rules apply to the RAP.
Processing time runs 7 to 10 working days. Peregrine handles all paperwork. You provide a passport scan, a visa scan, 200 passport photos, and travel insurance details at the time of booking.
The MCAP runs at NPR 3,000 (approximately USD 22) for foreign nationals. The permit funds conservation work in the Manaslu region through the National Trust for Nature Conservation.
The ACAP applies to the trek’s exit through the Annapurna region (Days 15 to 17). The permit costs NPR 3,000 (approximately USD 22) for foreign nationals.
The Larkya La crossing runs as the operational climax of the Luxury Manaslu Trek. The pass sits at 5,106 meters between the Manaslu and Annapurna massifs.
Larkya La measures 5,106 meters above sea level. Verified survey data confirms this number. Some operators advertise 5,160 meters, but the figure is incorrect. The correction matters. Honest reporting builds trust with informed buyers.
Larkya La’s weather is unpredictable. Heavy snow can close the pass for days. Strong winds at the summit can force a turnaround. Peregrine builds Day 11 (Samdo acclimatization) and Day 12 (Dharamsala) as flexibility days. If the pass conditions deteriorate, the schedule absorbs one full day of delay before resorting to alternate plans.
Day 14 at Bimthang stands as the defining luxury feature of the Luxury Manaslu Trek. Most operators continue trekking the morning after Larkya La. Peregrine builds in a full recovery day.
The Larkya La crossing strains every guest. The 8 to 10-hour day combines a 4:00 AM start, the high pass at 5,106 meters, and a 1,516-meter descent. Knees, hips, and feet all take impact.
A continued descent the next morning works for budget trekkers who need to minimize costs. The Luxury Manaslu Trek prioritizes guest experience over cost-cutting.
Bimthang sits in one of Nepal’s most beautiful settings. The wide, grassy meadow stretches from Manaslu’s western face to Cheo Himar.
The meadow runs flat for several kilometers. Walking becomes optional. The place rewards stillness more than activity.
Many trekkers describe Day 14 as the most memorable day of the entire trek. The combination of physical rest, mental decompression, and the Bimthang setting creates lasting memory. Optional short hikes include a 2-hour walk to Ponkar Lake — a glacial lake nestled below Manaslu’s western flank. Your guide leads the optional hike if your body has recovered. Most guests choose to do nothing. Reading, photographing, sleeping, and eating fill the day. The unstructured time stays the point.
The Manaslu Circuit is designated as a restricted area under Nepal’s trekking regulations. The rules differ from open-area treks like Annapurna or Everest. Three rules matter most for planning the Luxury Manaslu Trek.
The Manaslu RAP regulation requires a minimum of 2 trekkers per group. Solo trekking remains prohibited. Solo travelers have two options. Option one: join an existing scheduled departure that holds 1 to 5 other trekkers. Option two: pair with another solo traveler at the booking stage. Peregrine maintains a small list of solo travelers seeking partners.
Independent trekkers cannot apply for the RAP directly. A licensed Nepal trekking agency must apply on the trekker’s behalf. Peregrine holds the required licensing and handles all RAP paperwork.
The RAP runs as a fixed-duration permit. Validity starts on the date you cross the Jagat checkpoint on Day 4. The permit then runs for 7 to 14 days, depending on the length of your itinerary. Days outside the validity window require additional permit fees. Peregrine calculates the exact permit days needed based on your departure date and pace.
The Luxury Manaslu Trek includes 4 nights at Radisson Hotel Kathmandu, 13 trail nights at pre-booked best available lodges, all permits (RAP, MCAP, ACAP, TIMS), a private senior guide for the full 18 days, a 1:1 private porter, all meals on trekking days with full board, private vehicles both directions, satellite communication, premium sleeping bag and down jacket, the Trip Director service, and a 100-plus photo album post-trek.
USD 4,900 per person on twin-share occupancy. The single supplement is USD 900 per person. Group savings of 10% apply for 3 to 4 guests (USD 4,410 each). Group savings of 14% apply for 5 to 6 guests (USD 4,200 each). The price covers all permits, accommodation, meals, guide, porter, transport, and Peregrine value-adds.
Luxury on the Manaslu Circuit means a different thing than luxury in city travel. The best available room at every stop, pre-booked and confirmed in writing. A senior guide with 5+ Manaslu seasons. A 1:1 porter ratio. Satellite communication. The Day 14 Bimthang rest day. Maximum 6 guests per departure. Honest framing about what altitude cannot change.
Standard packages run at around USD 1,700 per person. The Luxury Manaslu Trek costs USD 4,900. The price gap reflects real differences. Named hotels (Radisson, not unnamed 4-star). Private vehicles in both directions. Private senior guide. 1:1 porter ratio. Pre-booked rooms. Satellite communication. The Day 14 Bimthang rest day. Maximum group size of 6.
Radisson Hotel Kathmandu runs as the city anchor for all 4 city nights (Days 1, 2, 17, and Day 18 if needed). The 5-star international property features an outdoor pool, an executive lounge, a full spa, and fine-dining restaurants. Welcome amenity includes a handwritten Peregrine card and your branded duffel bag in the room.
Four permits apply: the Manaslu Restricted Area Permit (RAP), the Manaslu Conservation Area Permit (MCAP), the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP, for the exit route), and a TIMS card or agency documentation. Peregrine arranges all four. You provide a passport scan, a visa scan, 2 passport photos, and travel insurance details at the time of booking.
Yes. The Manaslu RAP regulation requires a licensed Nepal trekking agency to apply on your behalf. Independent trekking remains prohibited in the restricted area. Your Luxury Manaslu Trek guide has 5+ seasons of experience on the Manaslu Trek and Wilderness First Aid certification.
Solo travelers can book, but the RAP requires a minimum of 2 trekkers per group. Solo travelers join an existing scheduled departure or pair with another solo traveler at booking. Peregrine maintains a small list of solo travelers seeking partners — contact us for current options.
Maximum 6 guests per departure of the Luxury Manaslu Trek. The cap protects the exclusive private experience. Standard operators run groups of up to 12 trekkers — the Luxury Manaslu Trek deliberately runs smaller.
Moderate to Strenuous overall. Daily walking runs 3 to 10 hours over 13 active trekking days. Day 13 (Larkya La crossing at 5,106 meters) runs the hardest day. We recommend 12 to 16 weeks of cardio and strength training before departure. The Day 14 Bimthang rest day reinforces recovery after the pass.
October and November give the sharpest mountain views of the year. April delivers rhododendron forests on the descent. March and May work as second-tier seasons. Monsoon (June–August) brings landslide risk and is not recommended. December–February, see Larkya La pass closure risk increases significantly — we do not run departures during these months.
Yes. Day 14 at Bimthang holds a full rest day after the Larkya La crossing. The rest day stands as the defining luxury feature of the entire package. Most operators continue trekking the morning after Larkya La. Peregrine prioritizes recovery over schedule cutting.
Your lead guide holds Wilderness First Aid certification and uses a pulse oximeter throughout the trek. Emergency oxygen, satellite communication, and a comprehensive first-aid kit travel on the trail. Peregrine maintains direct relationships with three Kathmandu helicopter operators for evacuation. Travel insurance covering a helicopter evacuation up to 5,500 meters is mandatory at the time of booking.
Peregrine pays porter wages 40% above the Nepal industry minimum. Each trekker receives a private 1:1 porter. The maximum weight per porter is 20 kg. Every porter receives full gear (down jacket, boots, gloves, headlamp), health and accident insurance, English language training, and proper lodge accommodation. Tips remain separate and entirely yours to give.
We recommend a minimum of 4 months’ advance booking for the October and April peak seasons. November and March allow a minimum of 3 months. May and late September allow a minimum of 8 weeks (RAP processing requires this). Pre-booked rooms at Hotel Mt. Manaslu and Ponkar Guest House fill earliest during peak season.
