The signatories include Yuvraj Adhikari, Chairman of Dordi Rural Municipality in Lamjung; Arjun Gurung, Chairman of Marsyangdi Rural Municipality; Dhanaprasad Gurung, Chairman of Dudh Pokhari Rural Municipality; Deepak Sapkota, Chairman of Ajirkot Rural Municipality in Gorkha, and TAAN Vice Chairman Dhan Bahadur Gurung.

Dordi Rural Municipality Chairman Adhikari has been appointed as the coordinator for the physical construction of the trail and coordination with various bodies, including the Tourist Information Center. The local authority will allocate funds from the upcoming fiscal year for its study, survey, and physical construction. TAAN will provide support in promoting the location among tourists.

There will be two Buddha Himal Himalchuli Trekking Trails in this region. The high-altitude Buddha Himal-Himalchuli Great Lake Circuit Trail will take approximately 21 days. This trail will lead from Lamjung’s Duna (Thulagi) to Rubinala Pass (5,000 meters) in Gorkha, passing through Meme Pokhari. Those who embark on this journey can reach the base of Buddha and Himalchuli.

The lower trail will reach the Lipe-Barahpokhari area of Lamjung, up to 3,200 meters. This journey will take approximately 13 days. According to them, budget allocation will be made for the development of this trail. “This Buddha Himal-Himalchuli Great Lake Circuit Trail will be different from the existing Chakriya Annapurna Trail, which tourists have not yet reached,” they said. “Tourists are eager to participate and explore new destinations. The mountain trails will become excellent destinations for tourists.”

TAAN’s Vice Chairman Gurung, who has been working in the mountain tourism sector for 45 years, has stated that TAAN has actively promoted mountain tourism by connecting Lamjung and Gorhka’s local authorities.

He emphasized the need to focus on the construction of trails that lead to the base camp of the mountains when tourists show interest in visiting the mountain region. Arjun Gurung, the chairman of Marsyangdi Rural Municipality, mentioned tourists’ search for alternative routes after facing difficulties traveling on the existing Chakriya Annapurna Trail, which involves off-road driving.

“I don’t prefer having vehicles on the trails for foreign visitors,” he said. “Even if we create many alternative routes, connecting them to the same road would limit the experience for tourists. Now, the expectation is for tourists to hike on mountain trails,” he added.
