Trip Information

Trek difficulty

The trail is off the beaten path, providing a remote and rugged experience. The terrain is filled with ascents, descents, and rough paths, making the trek quite challenging. The difficulty increases from the seventh day of the trek as you embark on long day hikes in higher altitudes. As you traverse from Kermi to Yalbang, Tumkot, and Yari, you will find yourself hiking for five to seven hours, gaining altitude with each step.

On the 10th day, you will take on the mighty Nara La Pass, which towers more than 4000 meters in height. It’s an intimidating task, but one that can be conquered. On days 11 and 12, you will embark on an 8-hour hike to the villages of Manepeme and Til. This can be a strenuous trek for those new to mountaineering, but the stunning views from up high make it all worth it. On day 15, you ascend to even higher Nyaula La, nearly at 5000 meters.

Although the trek may seem daunting, we assure you that the itinerary has been carefully planned to include necessary rest days, enabling you to complete the trek efficiently.

Best time for the trek

Springtime from March to May and autumn from September to early December are the most favorable and enchanting times of the year to embark on this remarkable trek. The crisp morning air and the vibrant colors of the changing season bring a special kind of beauty to the landscape. During this time of the year, the lush green hills are filled with a pleasant and sweet fragrance, while the colorful wildflowers adorn the meadows.

During the monsoon season of June to August, when the cloudbursts wreak havoc elsewhere, Limi Valley remains relatively dry, making it an ideal spot to get out and explore. The trails are sheltered by the high peaks, giving you a little respite from the rain, and the lush greenery is breathtakingly beautiful.

Trekking during winter in high-altitude areas on the trek, like Nara La Pass, Talung, and Nyaulu La, can be a daunting task. From late December to February, the snow can start to pile up, making it more challenging for the most intrepid of travelers. But those not afraid of the cold can still take on the trek and experience the beauty of the snow-covered landscape, making a memory that will last a lifetime.

Trek Safety Tips

For this remarkable trek, trekkers must be physically fit and in good health. To prepare your body, consider doing light cardio, stretching, and strengthening exercises a few weeks before the trek. This will help you acclimate to the high altitudes and adapt to the changing weather conditions. Pack plenty of warm clothes and a good pair of hiking boots.

Also, observing acclimatization or rest days is essential to a successful trekking experience. Acclimatizing to higher altitudes is of utmost importance, as failure can result in altitude sickness. The day of arrival or rest days should be used solely to observe and get used to unfamiliar surroundings and prepare for the next part of the journey. This can involve taking short hikes and adjusting to the air pressure and temperatures.

One Typical Day

Each day brings its own unique experience, starting with an early morning wake-up call and a hearty breakfast. Depending on the route, you will spend your day hiking for 5 to 6 hours, taking in the incredible scenery around you. As you go to the trek’s final leg from day 15 to day 18, you will have to hike for 7 to 8 hours each day to make it to the destination.

We will take a break at noon for lunch, take pictures and record video clips of the surrounding splendor — capturing memories that will last a lifetime. Afterward, we continue our journey until we eventually reach our destination — a local teahouse or reserved night shelter.

Third times trekking in Nepal

Limi Valley Trek has been my third trekking in Nepal.

Like every year, Peregrine Trek suggested me this incredible trek. We trekked for 20 days in Humla Region on the North West side of Nepal at the border with Tibet. This part of Nepal is frequented by tourists but offers magnificent landscapes. Two friends on their first trek in Nepal came home delighted. Peregrine Treks staff has provided our every need with efficiency, professionalism, and sympathy both in Kathmandu and during camping trekking.

No doubt I’ll be back next year for a new adventure.
