Overview of Ruby Valley Trek

Ruby Valley Trek lies in the Langtang National Park and touches Manaslu Conservation Area. We can see the  mesmerizing mountain views of Ganesh Himal I (7429 m.) and II (7118 m.) III (7110 m.) Manaslu (8163 m.) along with the Himalayan valley trek. We also explore many other small mountains. Trekking in Nepal is the mysterious tramping in the excellent Himalayan environment orchestrated by the expert guidance of the trek. The organizer passed by the multi-ethnic people’s culture and traditions.

This Ruby Valley Trek lies between the Langtang National Park and Manaslu Conservation Area. Most of the crew members of Peregrine Treks are from this trekking region. So, they are beneficial for the trekkers to know about this region’s unique terrain and culture.

We can divide it into two parts for this trekking: panoramic views of the Ganesh Himal and Manaslu ranges. We also observe the twin cascades of Ganga & Jamuna and the peculiar lifestyle of the Tamang, Gurung, and other ethnic tribes.

Ruby Valley Trek Highlights

  • Recently explored and maintained trekking trail
  • No tourist traffic on the way
  • The best option for beginner and senior people
  • Langtang and Ganesh Himalayan Range View
  • Natural hot spring on the trekking trail
  • Gurung and Tamang (Nomads of Nepal) Village
  • Many waterfalls, hanging bridges, Georges, etc
  • Overnight at a homestay as a local
  • UNESCO World Heritage Sites

The Ruby Valley Trekking begins from Syaprubeshi of Rasuwa district after a driver takes you to the place from Kathmandu. The trek revolves around Nepal’s Nuwakot, Rasuwa, Dhading, and Kathmandu districts. The best time for trekking in Ruby Valley is during March & April because the forests look red-painted with the blossoming rhododendron at this point of the year.

Besides the natural attractions in this trek, the monasteries, ponds, flora, fauna, hilly farming terraced landscapes, mineral mines, birds, and endangered animals like Thar, deer, Red Pandas (rarely seen), Snow leopard, Monkeys, etc. can be observed in the region.

This restricted region of trekking offers an enchanting experience of nature and culture. Trek with the authentic local crew members hailed from the area and felt the staged authenticity with Peregrine Treks and Tours.

    Essential Information

    Best time for the trek

Ruby Valley is a paradise for adventurers all year round! From March to May, the central Himalayas come to life in the springtime with snow-capped peaks and azure skies, while the rhododendrons add a splash of color to the landscape. And in autumn, from September to early December, the crisp air and clear skies make it the perfect time to explore the area. Temperatures around 20 degrees Celsius during the day and 5 degrees at night make it a pleasant trekking experience.

As the season of monsoon and summer stretch from June to August, journeys along the trails can become immensely more demanding. The wet and slippery paths are difficult to traverse, and the potential for landslides is ever-present. The all-encompassing fog often masks the scenery, reducing it to a blur.

During the winter months of late December to February, the days are sunny and warm, but the nights are frigid. Pangsang Pass is often dressed in a blanket of snow, making it all the more majestic.

Since Ruby Valley Trek is close to Kathmandu and doesn’t require you to go too high (the maximum height you’ll reach on the Ruby Valley trek is 3800m at Pangsang Pass), this journey is open and achievable to anyone! We conduct this trek throughout the year and provide the necessary support to our guests.

    Altitude sickness during the trek

Embarking on the Ruby Valley trek entails climbing up to 3500m – an elevation that can sometimes lead to altitude sickness. To ensure a safe and comfortable ascent, we have carefully crafted itineraries that allow your body to adjust gradually to the increasing heights.

It’s crucial to take your time while ascending and ensure you are adequately hydrated (at least 4 liters of water every day). Rest assured that our guides and crew members have a wealth of experience in the Himalayas. So if you experience any signs of altitude sickness, such as dizziness or lightheadedness, please communicate this to your group leader or descend immediately.

Equipment and clothing for the trip

For the Ruby Valley journey, here is the inventory of the items to bring along – from equipment to apparel!

    • Sun Hat and Winter Hat
    • Headlight
    • Sunscreen
    • Sunglasses with UV protection
    • Gloves
    • Hiking shirts
    • Long-sleeved shirt
    • Hooded rain jacket
    • Fleece jacket
    • Lightweight cotton pants
    • T-Shirt
    • Down jacket
    • Sweater
    • Waterproof jacket and pants
    • Hiking Boots
    • Woollen Socks
    • Backpack
    • Water purification
    • Trekking pole
    • Sleeping bag
    • Watch
    • Cell phone
    • Camera
    • First Aid Kit

    Suggested Extension

We have some incredible options if you want to extend the Ruby Valley Trek and explore more of Nepal. We can arrange an exciting one-day excursion to Kathmandu, the heritage city that has enticed travelers for centuries with its breathtaking architecture.

From there, we can take a three-day trip to Chitwan, where you’ll experience the jungle safari like never before! Take part in bird watching, fishing, and canoeing, and experience an actual Tharu village excursion. Or, if you’d prefer, we can arrange a three-day trip to Pokhara, where you can participate in some of the most thrilling activities, such as Paragliding and boating.

Additionally, for a truly memorable experience, we can arrange for one night of acclimatization at Pangsang La Pass. Not only do you get to experience the raw beauty of the region, but you also get to immerse yourself in the culture of the locals as you stay in a homestay. Picture yourself lying under a blanket of stars, illuminated by the night sky, and waking up to the stunning sunrise over Ganesh and Manaslu Himal.

Or, we can linger for one more night in Chalise gaon and let our inquisitive minds wander through the sister village of Shertung. We can explore the local culture, learn about the area’s rich history and savor the delicious cuisine. The night could be spent relaxing by the fire, surrounded by nature, and watching the stars illuminated in the sky.

Water and electricity during the trek

One of the significant draws of trekking through the Ruby Valley is the opportunity for visitors to recharge their cameras and other electronic devices at lodging spots or homestays throughout the region. For a small fee, guests can conveniently and quickly recharge their devices to ensure they can capture all of their journeys through the valley.

When it comes to safe drinking water, filling your water bottle with boiled or filtered water from local lodges is highly recommended. Alternatively, you can use water purification tablets such as Chlorine dioxide, which can effectively remove contaminants in 30 minutes. We do not advise drinking bottled mineral water found on the roadside.

Or, bring along a water filtration system that can easily be purchased online or at outdoor stores. They are designed to remove protozoa, bacteria, and other contaminants from your water.
